PaxFan, PaxIT, and PaxAuto are independently owned and operated companies that have received a master license to PAX Scientific’s designs for fan blades, housings, hubs, and other fan components. PaxFan holds the license for fans in the appliance, refrigeration, industrial process, and HVAC industries. PaxIT is licensed for computer cooling applications. PaxAuto’s license covers engine and compartment cooling for automotive applications.

Note that neither PaxFan, PaxIT, nor PaxAuto provide off-the-shelf fans, fan blades, or HVAC components; instead, they work with potential clients to determine which streamlining benefits are most important to them and then customize PAX designs to suit their specific requirements.

The benefits of PAX fan designs

By applying the patented PAX geometries to ordinary fan blades, PAX can consistently design fans that:

  • Are appreciably quieter
  • Use less energy and/or smaller motors for the same output
  • Provide greater and/or more controllable flow
  • Reduce manufacturing costs while providing improved performance

PAX engineers develop these designs using state-of-the-art software, including SolidWorks CAD, and Fluent and Acusim CFD tools. Designs are then tested on PAX Scientific's flow meters and dynamometers:

  • An AMCA 210-standard Torrington FM1000 that measures precision flow, back pressure, torque, and power readings from 2 to 1000 cfm, up to 5" H2O;
  • A custom-designed flow meter that performs the same measurements from 200 to 6000 cfm, up to 10" H2O. This flow meter is also built to AMCA 210 standards.
  • A precision dynamometer (.1-14 inch-ounce torque cell) and a larger dynamometer (1-500 inch-ounce torque cell).

To extract refined data about the aerodynamic and mechanical reverberations of fans, PAX operates its own anechoic chamber with a Mylar plenum. This is used to generate back pressure without altering the fan's acoustics.

PaxFan, PaxIT, and PaxAuto build relationships with industry-leading firms that can benefit from PAX technology. Through structured development projects, they identify specific client needs, generate and test appropriate solutions, and license the resulting technology to the client.
