PAX Technology Wins $2 Million DOE Grant
The US Department of Energy awarded PAX's air conditioning technology a $2 million research grant as part $76 million in funding provided by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The 58 projects selected support advanced energy-efficient building technology and training programs for commercial building equipment technicians, building operators, and energy auditors.
U.S. Energy Secretary Steven Chu stated, "Energy-efficient commercial buildings will help our country cut its carbon emissions and energy costs while the training programs will upgrade the skills of the current workforce and attract the next generation to careers in the emerging clean-energy economy."
The PAX grant will be used to in the development of a novel, water-based refrigeration solution that will significantly improve the COP of cooling technologies. The PAX solution uses pressurized water,
multi-phase flow, and a small footprint to develop high efficiency cooling. (June 17, 2010)
